What your jumper finishing details tell to you (and others) ?
Details matter. Just like in a board meeting presentation, one overlooked detail can change everything. In knitwear, a single element of collar finishing can cut the life expectancy of a jumper in half. It also reveals instantly whether it is an industrial piece or a piece of true quality.
Take the V-neck as an example:
- Double collar
A double collar will serve you longer. It holds its shape, supports the collar of your shirt, and is far less likely to stretch. Most mass-market producers do not use it, because it requires extra knitting and handwork and higher cost.
- Finishing of the V-neck
A truly artisanal V is knitted as a separate piece, with additional programming and design. Then it is connected manually. This ensures precision and longevity. The easier alternatives? There are three of them. They are faster, cheaper, and far less durable.
The most interesting part:
The price difference for these small design choices is not dramatic. For our collection, I calculated around 3 CHF extra per jumper.
Next time you choose a jumper, look at the finishing. It will tell you more than the label ever could.
